If you make it to the interview stage, the appointment will require some prep work on your part, but that doesn’t mean that you need to rehearse word-for-word answers. Instead, focus on your potential employer.
-
Do your research. Instead, focus on the employer and look at their social media/online presence in addition to reading about them in the media. If they don’t offer a great deal online, try asking someone who is familiar with the role you’d like.
-
Remember that hiring a young person is an investment. You often add strengths in tech, willingness, and flexibility. Interviews are a chance to showcase this. Write a list of questions that you’d like to ask during an interview. Think about what this organization/business/company is getting wrong or could do better.
On the day of the interview, plan to:
- Arrive early and alone
- Look professional
- Indicate a time when you may contact the employer to learn of the decision.
- Find out the timeline and if there will be additional interviews
